Saké Saké

Last weekend, just before I started my block of night shifts, Mr Zerodays and I fitted in a cheeky date night at Sake No Hana in Mayfair.

It's an absolutely beautiful venue and in a stunning location too. I was so excited as I remember being blown away by the food here last time.

As it was Mr Zerodays' first time here we went for the tasting menu. So we started with one of each: red and white miso soup with yam croquettes, and of course a glass of sparkle!

Now this was great. Tangy, sweet and spicy all in one; exactly how a teriyaki toban dish should be.

But the sushi that followed was really disappointing. So much so that I think I actually left most of it ... something I never do!

The desert was 50:50. Green tea panna cotta with kumquat and pistachio. I loved this and thought the delicate and creamy panna cotta was really well set off by the sour and sweet kumquats. But Mr Zerodays really hated this and we actually had to go and get a icecream after to cheer him up!

So, over all this was a mixed bag. It really is a stunning venue but the service was rushed and only one of the 4 courses was great. I'm not going to write this place off completely though as last time it was fantastic. So I'd recommend sticking with the à la carte menu if you're eating here!

Date night did give me a chance to model one of my favourite dresses though - ethical and ethnic fashion is something I love, and luckily my cousin has her own label which does just that! Check out Maisha Concept to find my dress and others from her label!
